The Exciting News Is Here!! The Results Are In!!!

Celina won the Award of Excellence ribbon at the Dakota County Fair for her brownies. She was also awarded the blue ribbon and a cash prize of $5.00. Celina won a total of $12 for all her baking and art.

Logan did very well too with his art work. He placed in marker and black ink pictures. He won a total of $12.00 at the fair for his art.

Everyone under the sun enters Chocolate Chip Cookies so we were happy to see a 3rd place for Celina.

I only entered Chocolate and Vanilla Carmels this year. I purchased a new thermometer because my other candy thermometer always reads too low and the Carmels came out a little too soft. I bought a new one thinking it would be accurate and I'd have the perfect Carmels. I found out too late that it reads too hot, so my Carmels turned out a bit too chewy but still good. I managed to still take 2nd place in chocolate and 3rd in vanilla Carmels. I was happy with the results and got a whopping $7.00 this year at the fair. I spent more time helping Celina and Logan this year and when it came time to do my own stuff I wasn't really wanting to enter anything much for myself. It's more about the kids and them having fun with the fair.

The food venders were all closing down so we didn't get any last minute food. We stopped at DQ and had a treat. Probably a lot cheaper then the fairs prices!!

We had another great year at the fair and will enter more next year.

A New Slide for Our Pool

When I'm told I can't do something or it won't work ...I'm even more determined to make it happen. I wanted the swing set slide to be set up so the kids could use it in the pool. Since I wasn't getting much help... I decided to do it myself. I just detached the 2 bolts from the side of the slide from the swing set. Steve got some rope and we tied it around the pool ladder and slide. The end of the slide at first floated then sank after it filled with water. I propped the slide up a plastic table but then figured I could use a blow up toy to keep the end a float. And Ta Dah.. It worked!!! The kids love the new slide..

Raspberry Picking

Our morning was filled with Raspberries in Afton, Minnesota at the Fisher Farm.. We ate and picked our way through the bushes. It was just the start of all the raspberries being ripe so we were just able to fill our stomachs and these 5 trays. We'll be back in a few weeks to pick some more.
