Down Memory Lane

I took a trip down memory lane today. This is the street where I grew up on 38th Ave N. New Hope, Minnesota
I lived in this house at 8108 39Ave N. from age 3 to 13 (8th grade).

This is our old front door with the same mail box. The house color has changed from a light green with white trim to now a gray & white color. The huge Russian Olive tree in gone from the front of the house and a pine tree and all the lilac bushes are gone from the side of the house. The people who now live in the house saw me taking photos and asked me what I was doing. I explained that I use to live there as a little girl. They were nice enough but didn't offer to let me look around or come inside. We talked a short while about any of the same neighbors but all have mostly moved. I did live here in the 70's so things have turned over and now young kids are once again riding their bikes through the neighborhood streets.

This brown house was our next door neighbors. We really didn't know them at all. I couldn't even tell you what they looked like. It was a older man living with his elderly mother. My sister and I would take turns mowing their grass and shoveling the snow off the driveway. The only time I saw the man was when I went over to get paid and he'd let us inside to wait. The house still looks exactly the same as when I was a kid.

This is the street just a little down the road where I'd walk to the bus stop and ride my bike fast to my friends house around the corner.

This was my best friend Alice's house. It still looks the same. I'd cut through the back yards to get to her house. I think her parents still live in this house.

This is my old elementary school from 1st - 6th grade. My teachers where Mrs. Michelson (1st), Mrs. Brewer (2nd) , Miss Solen (3rd), Mrs. Wheeler (4th - 6th grade).

The buses would pick us up around the circle.

I remember this long walk up the side walk on my first day of 1st grade. I was so scared. It was such a big school with so many big kids 6th graders.

This is 4545 Norwood Lane in Plymouth where my family moved to when I was in 8th grade (13). I lived there until I purchased my own town house at age 24.

My parents had this house built for us. I noticed how different the neighborhood looked with all the huge trees. All the trees were newly planted and so small when we first moved in. Some houses were still being built. This is the first house Kendra lived in when I brought her home from the hospital.

This is my first home 15535 in Plymouth. A town house I purchased when I was 24. I was so proud to be a home owner and live on my own with Kendra. Steve also lived here for about 2 month until we moved again to Inver Grove Heights in 1998 where we had our first house built for us on Tyne Lane. Photo's to follow in another blog.
