We found out today that Mr. Rice (Rick's father) passed away yesterday afternoon after going into cardiac arrest following a hospitalization from cancer complications.
I got to know Mr. Rice over the years we spent with the Rice family up at Sauk Lake and in the cities. He lived just 2 cabins up from our lake lot so we were able to visit. Mr. Rice always had a big smile on his face when ever we'd see him. He filled us in on all the lake news and his travel to Arizona each winter. We'd always hear about Mr. Rice going to the races in Alex every Saturday night in the summer. He also kept working after retiring, driving cross country for a town auto dealer. The last time we saw Mr. Rice he was out for his daily walk on those last summer days, we waved as we drove to town. He had 2 kids and 2 grandchildren and many friends. He will be greatly missed...
We Remember Them
Author Unknown
At the rising of the sun and at its going down, We remember them.
At the blowing of the wind and in the chill of Winter, We remember them.
At the opening of buds and in the rebirth of Spring, We remember them.
At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of Summer, We remember them.
At the rustling of leaves and the beauty of Autumn, We remember them.
At the beginning of the year and when it ends, We remember them.
As long as we live, they too will live; for they are now a part of us, as we remember them.
When we are weary and in need of strength, We remember them.
When we are lost and sick at heart, We remember them.
When we have joys we yearn to share, We remember them.
When we have decisions that are difficult to make, We remember them
When we have achievements that are based on theirs, We remember them.
As long as we live, they too shall live, for they are a part of us, as we remember them.
