On Saturday we visited the Split Rock LightHouse in Beaver Bay, Minnesota it was restored to it's 1920's appearance. The light house was no longer needed for navigation after 1969 and was closed.
Looking down the 130 foot cliff...
Tower Fresnel Lens.
Looking up at the tower light.
The stairs up to the tower light twist around the inside of the light house.
Lighthouse keeper house. The tower light would need to be hand cranked every 2 hours by the keeper.
We did a lot of hiking and took the long path down to the lake to get this view of the lighthouse tower. Well worth the hike!
